How to add Exchange Online (Office 365) accounts to an iPhone or iPad
Introduction
This document describes how to add an Exchange Online (Office 365) email account to Outlook or the built-in Mail App on an iPhone or iPad.
Method
Adding an email account to Outlook App
- First of all, you will need to install Outlook from the App Store.
- Open “Outlook” once installed.
- Enter the email address you wish to add
- Enter the corresponding password for the email address you are setting up
- All settings should be detected automatically – if you have 2-factor authentication set up then you may also need to enter a one-time passcode when prompted
Adding an email account to the Mail App
Since Mail comes pre-installed on the iPhone and iPad we won’t need to download anything from the App Store.
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “Passwords & Accounts”
- Under the Accounts section, press “Add Account”
- Select “Microsoft Exchange”
- Enter the email address you wish to set up
- Tap “Sign in” when given the choice (avoid Configure Manually as it should not be necessary)
- Enter the corresponding password for the email address you are adding
- All settings should be detected automatically – if you have 2-factor authentication set up then you may also need to enter a one-time passcode when prompted
- Choose which elements of the account you would like to use then press “Save” – if unsure, leave all switches “ON”
